FABULOUS FEBRUARY

Wow! February already! February is a special month for me. Three special people events occur in February. My Dad, Jim, celebrates his birthday today, February 10. The longer I live and the more people I talk with, the more I realize that I have a special Dad. I believe that most people have their view of God at least partially through their earthly father. If a person had a distant and detached father, they look at their Heavenly Father that way. I have a father who loves, provides, cares, protects, and is wise in leading without being overbearing in directing. Thanks Dad for showing me what a man looks like, and for helping me form a more accurate picture of our Heavenly Father.

The first date Marla and I ever had was a church Valentine's Banquet. Here we are, after almost 27 years of marriage, and on Sunday night we will be at a church Valentine's Banquet!!!! God has given me many wonderful experiences. I graduated from Oklahoma Baptist University, and Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary (two times) - wonderful times. I have served six churches in full-time ministry, and all of them are special to me. I have been on mission trips, served as a church planter, and led many to Christ - but God's gift of Marla to me is the best.

Andrew, the oldest, was born in February. He and his Grandpa have shared many birthday parties because their birthdays are only 1 day (and 51 years) apart. I cannot imagine the last 20 years without Andrew. He has been a big part in the ministry and mission endeavours of our family. He will be here next month with a Baptist Collegiate Ministry Team from the University of Arkansas - how cool is that!?

February can be a strange month. Hints of warmer weather followed by some of winter's coldest blasts. Sunshine and snow. It revs us up and then lets us down. But for me February is one of my favorites. Interesting that as we walk with God through life He can take the Februarys of our days and make special blessing of them. Walk with God and find what good things He has for you.
